Young Iowans geared up for the Mutton Bustin’ competition Friday, Aug. 21, at the 2015 Iowa State Fair. Five rounds of competition took place in the Pioneer Livestock Pavilion culminating in the Championship rounds at the end of the day.
Macy Bills of Scranton won her round in the 5 and under division. She is the daughter of Bob and Nicole Bills.
Mutton busting is kiddy rodeo. Children wear helmets and safety vests and ride sheep, just as grown-up rodeo folks ride bulls. To get an idea of the sport, watch this video from the 2012 Iowa State Fair Mutton Bustin’ contest.
